医療法人岩国病院は、明治１７年東大医学部卒熊谷茂樹先生が郷里に帰られ私立岩国病院を開設されたのが始まりです。
当初は岩国藩主が、明治維新で職を失った旧藩士の救済のために設立した「義済堂」の中にあり、「熊谷診療所」と称しました。
その後現在地に遷り今の医療法人「岩国病院」へ受け継がれたものです。

幾多の先輩医師たちがこの地の人々の健康維持にささげた努力をひきつづき発展させることが私たちに課せられた使命と考えています。

■Medical Service for the Local Society

Medical Corporation IRYOUHOUJIN IWAKUNI BYOUIN(IIB) was firstly founded as a private clinic by Dr.Shigeki Kumagai who graduared from the Medical Dept.of Tokyo University and came back to his home town,Iwakuni,in 1884.
it was called "Kumagai Clinic" as a part of Giseido which Iwakuni feudallord established for the samurais having lost their jobs after the Meiji Restoration.It was moved to the present location after-wards and led to the existing Iwakuni Byoin.
We trust that taking over and making the most of the tremen-dous effort of past doctors who worked hard for the health of the peaple in this area is my mission.
Like the quiet and beautiful flow of the Nishiki River along Kintai-kyo Bridge and Iwakuni Castle, we will constantly engage ourselves in careful and satisfying medical care for the patienrs,in hopes of passing this deremination being handed over to the next generation.
